The Gospel of Mark Reading Plan

This year I will be preaching through the Gospel of Mark in selected months:

Volume 1: January

Volume 2: March-May

Volume 3: September - November

My goal this year is for our entire church to be reading the text that I am preaching the week before I preach it, so I have provided January's reading plan. As you read, we would like you to practice the "SOAP" method.

Study the scripture

Observe what is happening in the passage you are reading.

Apply the scripture to your life.

Pray

Here are some questions to ask as you read each text:

1. What stood out to you in this reading?
2. How do the connecting Scriptures deepen your understanding?
3. What is God inviting you to do this week?

So, here is your assignment for January:

Week 1 - Read before Jan 4

Primary Reading: Mark 1:1-8

Connecting Scriptures: Isaiah 40:1-5; Malachi 3:1-1

Week 2 - Read before Jan 11

Primary Reading: Mark 1:9-13

Connecting Scriptures: Psalm 2; Genesis 3

Week 3 - Read before Jan 18

Primary Reading: Mark 1:14-20

Connecting Scriptures: Luke 5:1-11

Week 4 - Read before Jan 25

Primary Reading: Mark 1:21-34

Connecting Scriptures: Deuteronomy 18:15-19
